What is Countless Time and what do you do?
Countless Time is a yaoi / shounen-ai scanlation group that translates and scans Japanese boys' love manga for an English reading audience. The projects we undertake are ones that are not available for the English speaking community, and will be stopped immediately when they are commercially available.
What is yaoi? What is shounen-ai?
More commonly called Boys' Love in the publishing industry, yaoi and shounen-ai are genres of manga that commonly depicts romantic, emotional, and / or sexual relationships between males. Therefore, please be aware of the content of the material we release before you delve into it!
Where can I find Countless Time's releases?
Countless Time’s projects are available on IRC and can be downloaded there. Our IRC channel is #ct@irc.irchighway.net. If you don't know how to download from mIRC, we have a tutorial available. Just click on the link 'Tutorials' on the left under Miscellaneous.
Also, you can find links available on this website. Click on one of the links listed above on the left under Projects. A listing will appear and just click on the title of the project. Links will be listed at the bottom of the project page or volume section listed. Links for new releases will be added 3 days after its release (or there about).
Sorry, but we do not distribute, nor condone the distribution of, any of our projects, complete or in part, that has been Licensed for English.
Can you release the chapters faster?
We know that you want more, and even with the Staff that we do have there's lots of things that come up at work, school and in personal lives. The Staff does their best to put in the time to do the projects they are given and to do quality work. Still, there isn't always enough staff available as we would like. If you want projects done faster, come join and help. We can always use a Japanese-to-English Translator, Cleaners and Editors. Check out our Recruitment Page.
I have a manga or scans of [title], are you interested in having it as one of your projects?
Maybe. There are several factors to consider, which are, but not limited to: ~Is it yaoi or at least an interesting shounen-ai? ~What is the artwork like? ~How decent are the scans? ~What language is it?
~Is another group doing it? ~Is it connected with a project another group is doing?
~Is it a One-shot? ~Is it a single volume, a 2 volume, first of many, the second of three? ~What manga or magazine did it come out of?
~Is it licensed already?
If we do say yes, you will need to send all of the scans immediately, or as soon as possible. Too many times has a group started a project only to wind up not able to complete it when the remaining scans are not provided.
Scans need to be scanned Grayscale for regular pages or Color Pics for ones in color. The resolution needs to be at 300 dpi, saved in .jpg format and without adjustments made, such as leveling, cleaning or resizing to name a few.
Can I translate [title] into a different language?
First you would have to contact us and ask. Let us know who you are, what project you are wanting, what language you're translating it to, and provide us with your site address. Proper credits must be added, of which you will be told of upon affirmation. A link to our site is a must, also. Please, respect our decision if we say no.
Can I use your raws, cleaned scans or edited pages?
No. For projects that have been donated to us, we're not at liberty to give permission for their use elsewhere. For the remaining majority of the scans, the Manga was purchased with the sole intent of its use to be for our projects only. Thus, we've supported the mangaka. Please, buy your own copy and support the mangaka as well.
Can I host some of your projects on my site?
No.
Previously, we allowed our projects to be hosted by a few sites, and those that we've given permission to may continue to do so, under the same conditions as before, but we ask that no one else host files of any of our projects elsewhere. (This includes any manner of hosting such as download links, direct downloads and viewing.)
If you like the mangakas we choose, or the work we do, help support us instead through our IRC channel by serving our releases with an Fserver - OR - as we now have our website setup to include links for our releases and a Tagboard so you and your friends can post comments, we'd appreciate if you support us there.
We understand that you may really like a particular mangaka and want to have their works on your site, but please understand that we were the ones to put the time and work into doing the scanlation of these projects, and we really would like for fans of the mangaka or project to come to our channel and our website.
There are Pros and Cons to having projects hosted elsewhere. You have to realize, where exposure can be good for any group, it can be harmful, too.
A great way to support both is to download one of our banners, place it on your website and set it with our URL so that when a person clicks on it, they will be directed to our website (Information on adding a banner/link is found in the next question below). You could mention what mangaka you love of which we've done projects of.
We cannot stop anyone from putting our projects up on their site, let alone make them take it off, but we hope that you have a conscious to respect our decision. To those that do not, the removal of any and all Licensed Countless Time projects is your responsibility. By having a project of ours on your site, you, the site owner, automatically agree to this responsibility and assumes the responsibility of removing it from distribution, whether it be a downloadable file or view only file, from your site once it becomes Licensed and solely accountable of any reprecussions for failing to do so.
Can I link to your site?
Yes, we would appreciate it. You can either use one of our banners that you see on the left of the page or you can find them on the Links page as well. You can even use a text link of our group's name if you don't want to have a banner. Link image or text to: http://countless-time.tasuu.net. Also, there's instructions on how to add our banner for those that don't know how. Hopefully, I've made it clear enough to understand.
Please use only our URL and do not directly link to any particular project.
Why do I see licensed projects in your release logs?
Well, heheh, when we released those projects they were not Licensed at the time. After they became Licensed, we marked them as such for people to know that they are.
I want to help. How can I join?
We are always looking for people that are dedicated to do the work necessary to help us put out our projects. Check out our Recruitment Page to find out what positions there are and where to inquire.
That's about all the Frequently Asked Questions I can think of, but if there's something that's not covered here that you're in question about, contact Minako or Natsuya. Just click on either nick. It might be wise to put in the Subject line: Question for Countless Time so we know it's not spam.
