Recruitment
Countless Time is very grateful of those that have a desire to be a part of our team. Even in good times, having an extra hand never hurts.

IF, by some chance, you haven't already figured it out, our genre is yaoi and shounen-ai, of course. We do not do shoujo, yuri, or shota. {Even though one of our projects appears to be shota, the character is actually much older than his looks are drawn. (u.u) }

Let me, also, say that Countless Time is a non-profiting, scanlation group. Even though we may work like a company, we are not a business. We do not receive any monetary gain from what we do, even though there’s a lot of effort involved. Therefore, there is no income to be made.

We would like to have people with experience, but don't let that make you think you wouldn't be hired just because you don't. Some knowledge of skill for the position you're applying for would be necessary, though.

So, if you're interested in a position, think / feel / believe you could do a good job, and have the willingness to do the work needed, please, don't hesitate to contact us at: minako.scan [at] gmail.com or countless-time [at] tasuu.net   Put in the Subject line: Requesting Test for and the position you're applying to.   OR come to our channel #ct on mIRC and PM Natsuya or MinakoHi (sometimes she goes by just Mina).

Positions are listed below, with a brief description of it's requirements.

Staff Positions
Japanese-to-English Translators
Chinese-to-English Translators - Position Filled
Proofreader
Cleaners
Editors
QCer - Position Filled

Scanners ~ Sorry, but we do not have this position available as then it becomes dependant upon them to get {buy} the manga and to provide the entire scans of a project. Too easy and too many times has a group been stopped dead on a project because of the disappearance of their scanner.
We are not opposed to having scans donated. If something is accepted as a project, we do ask that the scans be fairly decent, so as to not have text partially or completely missing, nor have to crop off portions of the artwork in order to straighten pages or remove totally black gutter shadow.

Chinese Translators ~ Our requirement is that you be able to read and understand Chinese and be able to translate fairly decently into English. We ask that you do translate Sfx’s in places that they appear in Chinese, otherwise a ‘marker’ of sorts will need to be made as to where and what cannot be translated due to it being Japanese will need to be made.

Japanese Translators~ Our requirement is that you be able to read and understand basic Japanese and be able to translate into English. Most stories have furigana, although we do have some that do not have any ‘helpful’ scripts. We do ask that you translate the Sfx’s. Most times if you give at least a Japanese word of it, it can be looked up, but there are times that it isn’t listed and therefore will be asked for further interpretation.

* Both Chinese and Japanese Translators will put their translation in .doc or .rtf file and will not ‘write’ their translations on the scans themselves. [No .docx files]

Cleaners ~ They do exactly as their position title says. They clean the pages of the scanned manga (raws). Cleaners straighten the pages, level, clean, and, sometimes, cloning and/or redrawing are necessary. We do not have you remove the text nor the sound effects. This is something that the editors will do themselves, as it helps them match the text placement and expression.
The work that the Cleaner does helps the editor do their job more quickly and is greatly appreciated.

Editors~ There can be times that it becomes necessary to have to clean the scans of a project due to various reasons, so editors should be able to do this task in addition to typesetting. There will be times that cloning and/or redrawing is necessary. We do edit the Sfx’s.

* Both Cleaners and Editors should have at least Photoshop 7.0 or higher.

Proofreaders ~ A proofreader will make corrections in grammer and sentence flow on translations prior to editing. As proofreader, you should also not be afraid to appropriately add those important ‘and’s’ and ‘but’s’ that are many times left out of Japanese sentences. Also, you are to catch anything that might have been missed during translation whether ’handwritten text’ or Sfx’s. Sorry, but you must be a native English speaker, meaning that you went to kindergarten speaking English.

QCer - Checks and makes a listing of things that need to be corrected prior to releasing.

If accepted as a Staff Member, we request that you be dedicated both to Countless Time and the projects given to you.

We thank you very much for your willingness to devote your time in helping us.

Sincere and Grateful Thanks ^^
